Ascendency Interview

I had the honour of interviewing twin brothers Ando and Max who are part of the German band Ascendency

Below is the text that was originally published on Metalhead.club as part of a thread.

What type of music does the band play?

Ascendency combines heavy riffs, brutal breakdowns and catchy melodies to create a unique, post-hardcore sound. Accentuated aggression meets emotional nuances, enriched with clean vocals and electronic gimmicks.

How did you get together?

The band was formed during our university days in 2009 and took on its current formation after twin brothers Max (vocals) and Ando (bass), Lance (drums), Sarina (rhythm guitar) and Markus (lead guitar) happened to run into each other on the subway. Since then we've had many powerful shows and released several EPs and an album, topped off with visionary music videos. What are you working on now?

So far this year we have recorded three new tracks. "Still Alive" and "Doom Crows" can already be found on streaming services, but we are looking forward to the release of the third part "SUNDOWN" in late 2023. Next summer we are looking forward to performing at some bigger open airs like High Flames Festival, together with many outstanding metalcore artists.

Where can we buy your music?

You can listen to our music on all the major streaming platforms, but the best way to support us is to come to our gigs or visit our Bandcamp store at: Ascendency.bandcamp.com There you can buy our music as MP3s and find some really nice merch. Any support is appreciated!

Which of your songs do you suggest people listen to first?

That's a good question, according to our fans "Generations" is our most popular track. It's a song about hope & depression that young people around the world are struggling with. What plans do you have for the future? We're working on new material, & hope to bring it to life in 2024. So stay tuned!
